 *   Recognize the sociocultural roots of cognitivism, an implicit framework of assumptions about knowing (epistemology), being (ontology), and valuing (axiology)

 *   Reflect on the ethical ramifications of cognitivism, particularly surrounding ideas of autonomy and quality of life that are central to shared decision-making and advanced care planning

 *   Discuss the narrative harm that can arise from projection of cognitivist assumptions in clinical care of people with dementia and other neurodegenerative disorders
