James Love, MD
About me
James grew up as the son of a U.S. Marine officer and lived in several locations until settling in Norman, OK at the age of ten. He attended the University of Oklahoma throughout college and my medical training, then practiced in Norman for over 35 years.
Now, more than 50 years later, he started a new adventure with SIU Family Medicine in Quincy. He has practiced Internal Medicine in group, private practice, and hospital employed settings and he also has a vast knowledge of teaching and research here at SIU. He has had nearly 200,000 patient visits over the years, about a third in various hospital settings.
James is also certified for wound care and has a 10-year background in physical rehabilitation. He has 10-year cared for well over a thousand diabetic patients as well as the IM core diagnoses of high blood pressure, and heart and lung disease. He looks forward to caring for patients here in Western Illinois, sharing my knowledge and experience with the residents here in Quincy as well as doing work in research and new devices.
James is married to another Dr. Love, Andrea who is a clinical pharmacist. They have 3 children and 3 stepchildren and enjoy spending time with them in person or remotely. His hobbies include cooking, travel, carpentry, playing tennis and watching movies and sports. He has already met many of the nice folks here in Western Illinois and looks forward to meeting many more!
