Jeffrey Cozzens, MD
About me
Dr. Jeffrey W. Cozzens, professor at SIU School of Medicine Division of Neurosurgery, has a special interest in surgery for epilepsy, surgery of brain tumors, surgery for Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, and microsurgery of the spine.
Dr. Cozzens graduated from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He obtained his medical degree from University of Illinois School of Medicine and completed his neurosurgery residency at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Following this, he completed two fellowships - one in trauma neurosurgery at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and the second in epilepsy and stereotactic neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
Prior to joining SIU in 2010, Dr. Cozzens was an associate professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He was also director of medical student and resident teaching for the Division of Neurosurgery at North Shore University Health System in Evanston, Illinois.
Dr. Cozzens is board certified in neurological surgery. He is a member of several medical societies, including the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, American Epilepsy Society, North American Spine Society, and American Society of Functional and Stereotactic Neurosurgery. His research interests include brain tumors, movement disorders, and epilepsy surgery.
