    About me

    Katy Scott, DMSc, PA-C, has worked as a physician assistant in family medicine since 1995 and in academia since 1999. Dr. Scott has served patients in rural and underserved areas of southern Illinois throughout her career. Since its inception, she has worked within the SIU PA Program for over 23 years in various roles, including serving as a faculty member, a mentor and preceptor, the Academic Coordinator, and the Associate Director. She currently serves as the Director of the Physician Assistant Program. Dr. Scott is an experienced Problem-Based Learning tutor and trains other faculty to become PBL facilitators. She has a special interest in the management of obesity and diabetes and founded a weight management clinic at the SIU Center for Family Medicine in Carbondale. She earned her Doctoral of Medical Science through the University of Lynchburg.
