Population Science and Policy Primary Responsibilities: My primary responsibility for the Department of Population Science and Policy is to innovate the population science and prevention curriculum for undergraduate and graduate education at SIU School of Medicine and to oversee all aspects of PSP education to engage with students, residents, faculty and staff.
About Me: Growing up in Springfield gave me the opportunity to learn about medicine from many of the healthcare providers in our region. While in medical school, I questioned why the health care system was seemingly waiting for patients to get sick before providing them with care. I searched for job opportunities which would allow me to help prevent disease and promote health. A joint appointment in PSP and Pediatrics has provided that opportunity. I am thrilled to combine my experiences in public health and medicine to inspire future doctors to find new ways to address the health of the residents of central and southern Illinois.
