Partnership with Logan County Health Department, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital

March 8, 2017 — A new family medicine clinic in Logan County will integrate medical, behavioral and dental services. Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital (ALMH), and the Logan County Department of Public Health have partnered to develop SIU Center for Family Medicine-Lincoln. The 1,500 square-foot clinic is slated to open Monday, April 3, inside Logan County Department of Public Health, 109 Third St.

This is the first SIU site to integrate medical, behavioral and dental services under one roof. “We hope patients will find the integrated services improve their ability to access comprehensive care,” said Iris Wesley, Chief Executive Officer, SIU Center for Family Medicine.

More than 33,000 residents populate the area, and nearly a third have an annual income below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. The service area is designated a medically underserved area and a medically underserved population.

The clinic is a result of a $288,800 grant from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). SIU was one of two in Illinois and one of 75 nationwide to receive an award. In addition, the ALMH Foundation provided a $100,000 grant to fund renovation work for the new SIU site.

“Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital and our Foundation are thrilled to partner with the SIU Center for Family Medicine and our local health department to improve access to health care services in our community. We’re confident the new clinic will improve the health of the people and communities we serve,” said Dolan Dalpoas, president and CEO of Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

SIU School of Medicine’s Center for Family Medicine, based in Springfield, will oversee the administration of the clinic. The site will also serve as a training site for students and resident physicians.

Beginning Monday, March 20, patients can call 217-735-2317 to make an appointment. The clinic’s hours are 7:30 am - 4:30 pm Mondays – Thursdays and 7:30 am - noon on Fridays.
