Interventional Cardiologist Joins SIU Med School

Youssef Georges Chami, MD

 

Aug. 30, 2016 - Youssef Georges Chami, MD, FACC, has joined the faculty of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an associate professor of internal medicine, specializing in interventional cardiology. He is also a member of SIU HealthCare, the School's group practice.

Prior to joining SIU, Chami served as the chairman of the Department of Medicine at the Lebanese American University in Beirut, Lebanon. Previously, he worked for Franciscan Cardiology Associates in Tacoma, Wash., and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. He completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond (1991) and a cardiology fellowship at the Montreal Heart Institute at the University of Montreal (1988). Chami also completed an internal medicine residency at the Notre Dame Hospital at the University of Montreal (1986). He earned his medical degree at Claude Bernard University in Lyon and his bachelor's degree at Lycée Français in Beirut.

Board certified by the American Board of Interventional Cardiology, Chami is a fellow of the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Intervention, the American Heart Association Council of Clinical Cardiology and the American College of Cardiology.
