About me
Dominique Ely, APRN, is a Nurse Practitioner and Surgical First Assist with Vascular Surgery at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Her clinical practice serves patients with vascular disease, including peripheral artery disease, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease.
Ms. Ely earned both her BSN and MSN from the University of Illinois Chicago, with emphasis on acute care of the adult and geriatric population. She started her career as a critical care nurse practitioner at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana Illinois managing patients with complex traumatic, surgical and medical conditions, and serving as the Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider Lead. During her tenure at Carle, she was also in the Neurosurgical Service caring for patients with acute neurological injuries, including those associated with cerebrovascular disease.
She has a passion for medical education and has been a presenter for several conferences and symposiums for Carle Health and Carle Illinois College of Medicine. She has served as a director facilitating Fundamentals of Critical Care Support courses, Emergency Neurological Life support instructor, and is a recurring lecturer for the Illinois Region Six Trauma Nurse School course.
