Kelly Powell, CDCES, RDN
About me
As a 6th generation Springfieldian, Kelly Powell has a deep-rooted interest in Springfield and Central IL.
She worked at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield while in high school and while she attended Lincoln Land Community College. Powell returned to Springfield after completing her Bachelor's degree in Macomb, IL, and an internship in Columbus, Ohio.
She started her first professional job in Springfield at HSHS St. John's Hospital and joined a private endocrinology practice for 20 years.
Working in the field of diabetes during the continuous advancement of glucose monitoring and continuing improvement of insulin pump technology, it was a natural fit to specialize in education and training of the products. Powell also became certified as a trainer with all the current FDA-approved pump companies. She enjoys the ever-progressive nature of diabetes care with new technologies and medications.
As your provider, she has three goals for you:
- Understand WHY glucose control matters
- Identify a small change that can make a big difference in your glucose TODAY
- Know how to maximize your role on the health care team
